Fallen law enforcement officers remembered at state capitol

JEFFERSON CITY — Hundreds of law enforcement officers and families from across the state gathered at the state capitol Saturday morning to remember officers killed in the line of duty over the past year. The ceremony returned to the Missouri Law Enforcement Memorial after being held virtually in 2020. Organizers of the memorial echoed that events over the last year have highlighted the profession s importance. Missouri Department of Public Safety The recent spade of mass shootings have shown us that this country needs our heroes in blue more than ever. If not for the men and women whose names adorn these walls, society would fall in the face of fear and peril, Missouri Fraternal Order of Police president Rick Inglima said.

FCHD announces 35 new COVID-19 cases and 1 death on Friday, update on congregate facilities

/ Vandalia Radio Dec 19, 2020 5:50 AM The Fayette County Health Department announced on Friday 35 new COVID-19 cases and 1 new death, with 11 of the new cases related to a congregate facility.  That brings the overall total during the pandemic to 2,463 cases and 44 deaths. As for the Congregate Facilities - The Illinois Department of Corrections says that 96 staff at Vandalia Correctional Center have been confirmed to have COVID-19, 70 have recovered with 26 current cases.  Also, 488 offenders have been confirmed, 307 have recovered with 181 offenders current. Aperion Care in St. Elmo has had 71 COVID-19 cases and 11 deaths.  They are still listed as an open outbreak as they have had cases in the past 28 days.
