According to police, a 50-year-old man was walking his bicycle across the intersection at Hempstead Turnpike at 10:08 p.m. when he was hit by a Mac truck. The man suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:28 p.m. by a doctor.

The driver hit the female pedestrian on Wantagh Avenue, at Laurel Lane, in Wantagh around 9:40 a.m. on Thursday, Nassau County police said. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, the department said. Her name and age weren’t immediately released. The driver hadn’t been charged in connection with the woman’s death as of Thursday afternoon, police said. An investigation is ongoing.
