WESTMINSTER â Disappointed at the second year of cancellations of Fourth of July celebrations due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Westminster Fire Department decided to do something about it.
âWe didnât want a second year to go by without some recognition of this holiday,â said June Streeter of Westminster, who worked to organize the Sunday morning event with her husband, Westminster Fire Chief Cole Streeter.
Westminster, along with most of the area fire departments, usually heads to Saxtons River for that villageâs traditional parade, and a firefightersâ water polo competition after the parade.

CHESTERFIELD, N.H. â Firefighters from around the tri-state region are planning to turn out to honor one of their own, a Chesterfield firefighter with 39 years on the job who died Monday from pancreatic cancer.
On May 1, with the Pink Heals Windham County Vermont firetruck in the lead, they will leave a parking lot on Putney Road and proceed to Poor Road to honor Steve Chickering Sr. and show support to his family.
âWe might see firefighters from as far away as Ludlow and Rutland,â said Jay Meyer, of Putney, the owner of Codie Vermontâs Pink Fire Engine.
