Have You Met: Anna Garcia overcomes a difficult childhood
She cares about her father, but not like a daughter; we don t have that kind of relationship
Lisa Miller
If you’ve spent much time at the Crawford County Courthouse, you’ve probably seen Anna Garcia walking up the ramp, arms full of files for her job as a title examiner. After work, she goes to the home she loves on the southeast side of Bucyrus or to Fremont to visit family.
You might not know she spent her younger years visiting her aunt at the Weaver Hotel. Or she talks to her dad on the phone at least once a week and visits him in prison. Ralph Garcia Sr. has been incarcerated since he murdered her mother in 1986.
WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Corvettes of the North announced it will no longer host its benefit cruise and concert after 44 years in Wisconsin Rapids.
Ron Hilgart, president of Corvettes of the North, announced Sunday the car club would no longer be able to sponsor the event because it became to difficult to maintain the quality of the event as the club’s members get older.
“The Corvettes of the North hope all of you have enjoyed this event as much as we have enjoyed putting it on,” Hilgart said.
The cruise, which had been canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, has been the club’s major event each year, held in Wisconsin Rapids. The club’s membership dues and money raised from the cruise and concert supported the club, the Wood County Rescue Squad’s equipment fund, various charities and scholarships for students in automotive fields at Mid-State Technical College and Northcentral Technical College.
