Texas delegation requests close to $2 billion in funding request earmarks
Over half of the Texas delegation requested funds, including eight Republicans.

Earmarks are back.
The congressional practice of members essentially hand-picking projects was banned from Congress in the early 2000s after it became synonymous with “pork barrel” legislation. But it’s been given another chance under a new system.
Twenty-one members from Texas’ 35-member congressional delegation the 6th Congressional District in North Texas currently is open requested a total of close to $2 billion for fiscal 2022. I Love Juice Bar, opening in Hillcrest Village at 6959 Arapaho Rd. on Friday, April 16. I Love Juice Bar has 32 locations across the U.S., mostly in the south: Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and West Virginia. That includes five so far in the DFW area: Allen, Lakewood, McKinney, Flower Mound, and Park Lane/Dallas. Hillcrest Village will be the sixth.
If passed, House Bill 2315 would allow law enforcement in some circumstances to seize and possibly forfeit someone s car. This wouldn t happen for a first-time offender unless they injured someone or were driving while intoxicated. After the first offense, though, stunt drivers risk having to find a new set of wheels. State Reps. John Turner and Morgan Meyer filed the bipartisan bill based on DPD s recommendations and constituent comments.
DPD can already seize people s vehicles, but it never happens. Out of the hundreds of vehicles the Dallas Police Department has impounded for street racing this year, no individual has met all of the criteria necessary to have a vehicle seized.
