Police on Monday identified the Escondido man who was stabbed to death last week inside the apartment he shared with his girlfriend, who has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
An autopsy showed Rafael Octavio Choza, 63, “suffered multiple stab wounds” in the Dec. 22 attack, according to a news release from Escondido police Lt. Kevin Toth.
Police allege Choza’s live-in girlfriend, 52-year-old Shelley Reaves, killed him inside their apartment on North Quince Street near West Mission Avenue, according to Toth.
The lieutenant said Reaves called 911 around 7 that evening to report the death. Officers found Choza dead at the scene with “obvious signs of trauma,” while the autopsy revealed he’d been stabbed, Toth said.
