This article is part of a series of stories planned by Cache Valley freelance writer Cindy Knowles based on the idea that everyone has an interesting story to
tell. She met Meg and Ted Erekson while visiting the Cache Valley Gardenersâ Market.
Seeing the Ereksons in their matching farmer overalls, you would think, âHmmm, what an interesting couple. Her colorful crossover purse and yellow Crocs, his long, well-kept beard with rainbow skull cap⦠they make quite the pair.â
Ted and Meg Erekson call themselves and their website âNutmeg Company.â Heâs the Nut/Story Teller and she is Meg/Artist. Their home tells even more of their story. Itâs filled top to bottom with special mugs, books, photos, artwork, nutcrackers, memories and love from top to bottom. Each item is purposeful.
A Providence middle school teacher charged after allegedly assaulting students made his initial appearance in 1st District Court on Monday.
Scott D. Meeker, 50, was charged last month with second-degree child abuse and four counts of class-B assault.
Meeker was set to appear before the court again on June 1, allowing prosecutors and defense counsel to prepare for a preliminary hearing in the matter.

During the appearance, Judge Angela Fonnesbeck also granted a motion to amend Meekerâs pretrial release conditions. The order allows Meeker to attend family and religious functions including âend-of-year school activitiesâ involving members of his own family provided he is âaccompanied by a responsible adult.â
This year has been troublesome for everyone, and that includes two Mock Trial teams from Spring Creek Middle School. They sought to recreate a court-like atmosphere for competition in a year where even the real court system went virtual. Zoom quirks, laptop failures, and slow internet speeds added a level of difficulty that was impossible to practice for. They found the process frustrating at times, but rewarding in the end.
Coach Alissa Groll invited me to interview the teams about this yearâs event, the challenges they went through, and the big finish: a second-place win at state level competition for Team Blue, which was composed of the older students.
