Eid Al Fitr 2021: Free parking in Sharjah

Sharjah: Sharjah City Municipality has announced that all public parking spaces across the city will be free of charge from Shawwal 1 to Shawwal 3 on the occasion of Eid Al Fitr holiday. The decision excludes the paid parking spaces in the following zones Al Hisn Street (Bank Complex) in Al Shuwaiheen and Al Shoyoukh areas, Corniche Street (both sides) in Al Shuwaiheen area, Qays Ibn Abi Sa’sa’ah Street (Bird Market) in Al Jubail, Central Souq parking spaces in Al Majaz, and Corniche Street (Khalid Lagoon side) in Al Majaz 1, 2 & 3 and University City Road Muwaileh Commercial Area The municipality urged all motorists to use parking spaces properly during the holiday to avoid fines.

Lands Ministry warns against unauthorised construction and forest degradation

Sierra Leone Telegraph: 11 March 2021: Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Lands yesterday announced, “It has observed that while the Ministry is in the process of establishing a dispute resolution committee to address the overwhelming concerns raised by the public over the manner in which lands were administered or allocated, certain individuals have embarked on massive unauthorised construction and forest degradation activities.” In its public statement published, the Ministry said that it “has also noticed with dismay the recent deforestation and forest degradation along the Western Area Peninsula National Park (WAPNP) and other Protected Areas. These activities have damaging effects on the surrounding environment. The Ministry hereby entreats the general public to desist from any of these unlawful activities as defaulters will face the full force of the law,” it warns.

Land dispute resolution committee formed in Sierra Leone

Sierra Leone Telegraph: 06 March 2021: A Lands Dispute Resolution Complaints Committee was last Thursday appointed by the Sierra Leone Ministry of Lands, Housing and Country Planning to look into land disputes between April 2018 to January 2021, after many years of poor management in the ministry, injustice, and sometimes violent confrontation involving armed men, police and soldiers. The new Lands Minister – Dr. Turad Senesie, whom many are describing as a reformer compared to his controversial predecessor Sandy, made this announcement last Thursday at the government press briefing organised by the Ministry of Information and Communication. “The Committee will receive and look into complaints from persons who feel disadvantaged in land allocation issues between April 2018 and January 2021,” the Minister said.
