A hiker’s paradise awaits just outside of the city, with plenty of lush trails to explore in all corners of the region from the North Shore and Howe Sound to the Fraser Valley and the Tri-Cities.
The 3.4-kilometre return trail to Lindeman starts out gentle, but takes three hours due to the difficulty of the terrain. One must cross large boulders and plenty of tree roots that turn into slipping hazards when wet. On the day I visited, the ground was damp from a rainstorm the night before. I slipped three times, bruising my legs and hip. What a great reminder to always hike with poles.
