Colts punter inspires with quick comeback

Rigoberto Sanchez became better known for not playing than for being a full-time player for the Indianapolis Colts.
Probably more widely recognized for the job he did than his name, the guy who handled punting and kickoff duties was sidelined and blindsided by a cancer diagnosis that many thought would shelve him for the rest of the 2020 season.
There was both openness and mystery about the ailment that knocked Sanchez out of the lineup, then rejoicing and admiration when after having a cancerous tumor in an unrevealed spot in his body removed, he quickly returned to active duty.
Bald eagle conservation reaches new milestone in Indiana
An eagle! Someone on the wooden dock shouted and then pointed. Everyone looked, spellbound.
It was a windy, autumn day at Patoka Lake in southern Indiana when the flapping wings crossed the sky and a dozen pairs of angler eyes turned away from the water and gazed upward.
One bird, one American bald eagle, its powerful wings propelling flight, appropriately in the tiny community of Birdseye, was simultaneously offering a bird’s-eye view the pull of its symbolism, history and majesty.

The magic point was neither dramatic nor spectacular, but it set off a chain of reactions.
When Tyler Goecker scored his eighth point of Saturday’s Trinity Lutheran basketball game against Jac-Cen-Del, the free throw catapulted him to a major milestone. It was the 1,000th point of the 5-foot-11 senior guard’s Cougar career.
Not the fanciest move Goecker has made on the court, but his knowing teammates gave him a rousing ovation, and their response and the moment grabbed hold of his emotions.

Trinity girls pull away from Southwestern
12/19/20 11:45 AM
The Trinity Lutheran girls held a 44-38 lead over Southwestern (Hanover) with just over six minutes remaining in Friday night’s game in the Bollinger Athletic Complex.
Kailene Cockerham scored a basket and Sydney Jaynes followed up with a basket and two free throws in Trinity’s next two possessions, and very quickly, the Cougars’ lead stretched to 15 points and ultimately a 64-48 win.
The Rebels followed up with their ninth 3-pointer of the night, but the Cougars came back with another 6-0 run and Trinity was on its way to its 11th win in 12 games.
