People at the Havre School Board meeeting Tuesday recite the Pledge of Allegiance. The board took numerous actions at the meeting and heard updates including on the situation with COVID-19 and plans to have the next school year as normal as possible, and on plans for graduation ceremonies.
In a series of unanimous votes the Havre Public Schools Board of Trustees canvased the results of the recent school board elections, provided academic excellence awards to students and approved a number of policy updates, as well as discussing the district s policies moving forward.

Erin Pulse is asking for people s votes in her candidacy for the Havre School Board. She is one of five vying for two three-year terms on the board. The others are incumbent Lorraine Larson and Jacob Ingram, Michele Hold.

Lorraine Larson, an incumbent on the Havre Public Schools Board of Trustees, is running to retain her seat on the board. Five candidates are vying for two three-year terms, with the top two vote-getters taking the seats. Larson was selected at the end of February by the present school board. I was in education for 40 years. Also, I m retired. So I think those two things I have going for me, Larson said. Larson taught special education and worked as the school psychologist for the district, as well as working with non-special needs students. She said that in her earlier years she coach.

The Havre Education Association hosted a Havre Public School Board candidate forum Thursday in Hensler Auditorium on the Montana State University-Northern campus. The forum was moderated by Chairman of the Havre Public Schools Education Foundation Kyle Leeds. There were nine questions from the HEA and public questions as well as follow-up questions were allowed.
