Sydney have dumped five players after their AFL win against Carlton, with key ruckman Tom Hickey and young forward Logan McDonald recalled for the Swans clash with St Kilda.
Coach John Longmire did not hesitate in swinging the axe despite the Swans defeating the Blues by 22 points last Sunday to sit sixth on the ladder.
Hickey, who has been one of the recruits of the season, returns from a knee issue to replace dropped ruckman Callum Sinclair.

Wednesday night’s mid-season rookie draft is an important chance for the bottom 10 clubs to address gaps in their lists, and for players running around in state leagues or the underage NAB League to kick-start their AFL careers. Think Marlion Pickett, who won a premiership four months after Richmond plucked the 27-year-old from South Fremantle in 2019.
It’s open to players overlooked in last year’s national and rookie drafts, and to players previously delisted.
