West Seattle Blog… | Where have all the coyotes gone? If you ve seen/heard any in West Seattle, researcher needs your help

Friend of Coyotes and Bunnies July 27, 2021 (3:25 pm) The coyotes looked mangy and skinny before they disappeared completely from Arbor Heights and Fauntleroy a couple years ago.  At the same time all the Missing Cat telephone pole posters came down.  Wondering whether the coyotes may have been poisoned or shot?  There needs to be a happy medium.  Now the rabbits have completely taken over Lincoln Park and neighborhood gardens. Pelicans July 27, 2021 (9:25 pm) The last coyote I remember seeing was a poor mangy one near Admiral and Lander several years ago. He had no fur at all and was kind of limping along. He didn’t look like he could have caught anything to eat if he tried. Saw a rabbit for the first time in 22 years on south Alki Point a couple of weeks ago.

West Seattle Blog… | AS-IT-HAPPENED COVERAGE: 75 speak during Port Commission s first all-T-5/Shell meeting; commissioners pass two motions

( 9:44 PM UPDATE: Foss’s appeal document added, after coverage of 75 speakers at Port Commission meeting, followed by commissioners passing both motions – as Shell drillship Noble Discoverer arrived in Everett) 12:58 PM: Just as Seattle port commissioners are about to start their meeting on the controversial Terminal 5 lease to Foss/Shell, we received that photo of one of the Shell offshore-drilling rigs that is expected to wind up here for a while: The Noble Discoverer, which, as we reported earlier, entered Washington waters early today. Jason Mihok photographed the ND (and Foss tugs) as they passed Port Townsend – he was on board the Victoria Clipper. Meantime, we’re at Pier 69 (steps from the Clipper’s HQ, in fact), where the commission chambers are overflowing – we in fact are sitting on the floor in the back of the room. We’ll be chronicling the meeting as it unfolds.

Newburgh councilman Anthony Grice seeks Orange County office

CITY OF NEWBURGH - Anthony Grice could make history if he is successful in his campaign to become Orange County clerk. Grice, a 53-year-old Newburgh city councilman, would be the first African-American to hold that position. The office has seen 37 clerks since it was established in 1702. But that s not what he wants voters to focus on. That s important. That s significant, Grice said. At the same time, I do not want people to vote for me just because I m the Black guy. He hopes voters focus more on his skills, his vision for the office and ideas for programs. Grice officially announced his intention to run as a Democrat for county clerk on Feb. 12. Grice s wife, who owns a small business in Newburgh, and three sons are deeply involved in what he calls his grassroots  campaign.
