Commuters were surprised to find a displaced trampoline outside the Chapel Down Primary School in Flat Bush this morning, following the severe wind event that battered Auckland in the early hours.
A southerly blast with wind gusts of more than 120kmh is hitting Wellington with reports of waves washing debris over a coastal road. The strong wind is causing disruption to flights in and out of the capital, Wellington Airport has reported on social media, urging people to check live flight information online. General manager of corporate affairs Jenna Raeburn said four departures and eight arrivals had been affected so far.
