At a time of high tension with Western countries, Russian President Vladimir Putin took advantage of his speech at the Victory Parade this Sunday to denounce the return of “Russophobia” and promised that Russia will firmly defend its national interests.
The military parade on May 9, which varies little from year to year, is the main non-religious holiday in Russia and is organized in dozens of cities, although the most important is that of Red Square in Moscow. This year’s one commemorated the 76th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany in World War II.
