Laura Golakeh is expected to receive a Master’s Degree in International Education Policy from Harvard University on May 27, 2021. A first-generation college graduate born during the civil crisis in Liberia, Ms. Golakeh has shown that no matter one’s circumstances, one can always rise with commitment and determination. Her passion for education goes back to 2012, when she founded a community organization promoting early literacy among privileged children.
Her flagship program (mobile library) improved the reading skills of many children in and around Monrovia. Because of her contribution to the education sector, she was one of 500 young African leaders selected from more than 50,000 youth in Africa to be a part of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, an initiative of Pre

MONROVIA – The work-related lamentations from members of Liberia’s disability community have been amplified, again, to attract attention of Liberian Government, the private employment sector, and entire Global Community. This has been going on over decades, especially in post-civil war period that is characterized with intensification of discrimination against persons living with disabilities in every public work place unlike prejudicial treatment against jobseekers/employees with no form of deformity.

As twin starting points: Today is your birthday; you departed this life on 20 November 2019. Reflecting upon your courageous fight for a corruption-free Liberia under the rule of Law, it is of deep concern to me how your venerated legacy is being exploited and poorly treated by some of our friends.
Collectively, we struggled to lay the foundation stones of Liberty Party – the political vehicle aimed at advancing the aspirations for a better Liberia. The journey we trekked was not altogether smooth; howbeit, there was a common consensus on public standards of decency that the Party espoused at its formative stages. From what’s obtaining nowadays, I am not sure whether you would recognize the political vehicle of integrity you left behind, if your return were humanly possible!
