(WXYZ) â Going the extra mile to help individuals of all abilities. GiGi s Playhouse Detroit Down Syndrome Achievement Center is holding its GiGiFit Acceptance Challenge this Saturday.
Event chair and board member Amy Tyrell, and board member and self-advocate Luke Tyrell joined 7 Action News to talk about getting involved.
The GiGiFit Acceptance Challenge is happening Saturday at 9 a.m., at the Seaholm High School track in Birmingham. People can also join virtually.

The smoke seen from Hanson Cement, which many residents say is more than just steam Residents in the Ribble Valley have raised concerns about air pollution levels in one of their towns which they claim are being made worse by a cement works. Luke Tyrell, who lives in Clitheroe claims that Hanson Cement, previously Castle Cement, on West Bradford Road, is pumping nitrogen oxide into the atmosphere and poisoning the area. Mr Tyrell, who lives close to Bawdlands, said the issue had been ongoing for more than a decade, with thick black smoke coming from the cement works being passed off as steam by bosses of the company.
Hawthorne Place, Clitheroe Residents in an East Lancashire town have been left bitterly disappointed after the council approved plans for 57 new homes, despite solid opposition from councillors and the local community. People living in Clitheroe, who state their area is already over-developed, were dealt another blow after Ribble Valley Borough Council approved plans to build 57 new homes on land at the end of Hawthorne Place. Hawthorne Place - the planning notice Persimmon Homes lodged the application on December 17 2019 to build a mix of two, three, four and five-bedroomed terrace, semi-detached and detached properties, but residents living on Hawthorne Place and adjoining Waddington Road said the development would cause more traffic, road safety and infrastructure problems in the already congested town.
An angry resident has blasted Network Rail for allowing an oil leak to spill onto a footpath and claims the railway company will not rectify the issue due to the major disruption it could cause. Luke Tyrell, who lives in Clitheroe, said oil has been cascading down the walls underneath the railway bridge just off Railway View Road in the town centre, and leaking onto the footpath.
The oil leak under the railway bridge in Clitheroe is becoming a problem for residents in the town He said: My dog s paws were covered in oil and a lady told me she had slipped on it, fallen and hurt herself, yet the oil is still being left there.
