College food pantry helps students with little time, money Follow Us Question of the Day By EARL HORLYK - Associated Press - Saturday, March 6, 2021 SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) - Not only does Gabriella Luna attend classes all day, but the St. Luke’s College second-year nursing student also prepares dinner for her parents and two younger siblings. “A lot of times, I don’t have time to go grocery shopping,” she said. “Sometimes, I don’t have enough money to buy anything healthy.” Luna isn’t alone, according to St. Luke’s College President Kendra Ericson. TOP STORIES “We surveyed our students and 54 percent of respondents indicated they didn’t have enough money for food and couldn’t afford to eat balanced meals,” Ericson told the Sioux City Journal.

I was born on March 5, 1938 to the Omodeleola dynasty in Modakeke, Osun State and I grew up in the same environment. Because of my family’s situation and other circumstances, I did not start school until I was 10 in 1948. I left primary school in 1954. Because I was a very brilliant student, our headmaster at St. Stephen’s School, Modakeke, employed me and some other classmates to teach in that same school and I was there till 1956 before I went for my Teachers Grade 3 Course at St. Peter’s College, Ilesha from 1957 to 1958. After the Grade 3 Teachers Course, I went back to St. Stephen’s School, Modakeke to teach. The system then was that after Grade 3, you had to teach for two years before you could advance to Grade 2.  After teaching for two years at St. Stephen’s School, Modakeke, I sought admission to St. Luke’s College, Ibadan and I studied for another two years there.
