At Monday’s Boonville City Council Meeting, the Boonville Police Department was presented several awards for going above and beyond while saving the life of individuals.
Boonville City Administrator Kate Fjell said members of the police department received several awards, which included: Lifesaving Medals; Sons of the American Revolution Lifesaving Award; House Resolution for Lifesaving presented by Representative Tim Taylor; Meritorious Service Award from Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt; and a letter from Missouri Governor Mike Parson.
Fjell said there were two separate incidences, one of which was in December, where four officers and a neighbor gained entry into a house that was on fire. She said a woman was unconscious and sleeping and the officers were able to get her out of the house safely. The other incident occurred when one of the patrolman was on patrol, and he provided CPR on a child that was not breathing.

FZN Senior Emily Piel recently signed a Letter of Intent to play soccer at Missouri S & T University located in Rolla, Missouri. Piel has been a stand-out on both the pitch and in the classroom during her time at Fort Zumwalt North. An accomplished club player, Piel earned 2nd team All-Conference status for the Panthers in the spring of 2019. The Panthers 2020 season was cancelled due to COVID 19. Prior to her time at North High, Piel was a member of the P.A.L. soccer club that won the prestigious state cup championship in 2016 while finishing as the runner-up in 2017. While in high school, Piel has competed as a member of the Lou Fusz soccer club. She was selected to participate in the regional pool (16/17 year olds) portion of the Olympic Developme
