Elizabeth J. Lynch, 95, family matriarch and native of Lewes passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2021, in the home her family has lived in since her birth. She was born on New Year’s Day, 1926, at Beebe Hospital, daughter of the late Meta (Green) and Preston Joseph.
When she was 3, her parents built one of the first cottages on Lewes Beach where she enjoyed an idyllic childhood. As a young adult, Lib spent summers helping children with special needs at the Children’s Beach House. Her family would move to the beach for the summer and return to their home, in town, after Labor Day.

Rosalie I. Schmitt, affectionately known as “Rosie” or “RoRo,” 83, of Lewes passed away surrounded by her loving family Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at Christiana Care in Newark.
Rosie was born in Lewes Feb. 16, 1938, daughter of the late William Brack Porter and Vera Emily (Holston) Porter. She was a graduate of Lewes High School class of 1956.
Rosie began her working career as a secretary at Stokely-Van Camp in Rehoboth Beach. After meeting her husband, Frederick Schmitt, and starting her family she began her true vocation as a mom. Being a Navy wife, she quickly learned how to organize large events to small intimate dinners with the officers and men of her husband’s ships at various navy bases.

Rufus William Joseph of Lewes passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at Cadia Renaissance in Millsboro.
Rufus was born Aug. 4, 1939, in Lewes. He was the son of the late Moulten and Blanche Joseph. He graduated from Lewes High School in 1957.
In his younger years he worked in construction, operating heavy equipment. In the 1980s he started working in the mobile home industry and started his own business, B & R Transporters Inc. He also worked quite a few summers at the Holly Lake Campground. He never really retired as he always wanted to keep busy.
In his spare time, he enjoyed watching NASCAR racing, dirt track racing, having coffee with his friends every morning, and spending time with his family and friends. He was also a member of the Improved Order of Red Men.

George Edward Wyatt Jr. “Sonny, Ed,” 83, of Rehoboth Beach passed away Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021, surrounded by his wife and children. He was born Feb. 2, 1937, in Lewes, son of the late George Edward Sr. and Edna Wyatt.
Ed was a family man and a great friend who meant a lot to everyone who knew him. He touched many lives throughout his life and his memory will live forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
Ed graduated from Lewes High School in 1955, where he was the class president. He proudly served with the Pilots’ Association for the Bay & River Delaware for 44 years. In addition to his career as a river pilot, Ed was involved for many years in various Boy Scout activities. He was an Eagle Scout himself, later became a Scout Master, and spent many nights camping with his troop locally and all the way to National Jamboree. Virginia A. Jobora, 73, of Lewes passed away Friday, Dec. 11, 2020, at Temple University Hospital - Jeanes Campus, in Philadelphia, Pa. She was born Monday, March 10, 1947, in Gettysburg, Pa., daughter of the late William and Ann (Worrilow) Baker.
A graduate of Lewes High School, Mrs. Jobora spent a lifelong career as a cardiopulmonary technician at Beebe Healthcare, retiring in 2012 after 37 dedicated years. In Lewes, Mrs. Jobora enjoyed raising a beautiful family and spending time with them every moment she could, especially time spent with her four grandchildren; they were the apples of her eyes. Mr. Jobora was an avid reader with great curiosity. She enjoyed many genres and often lost herself in a good book.
