Environmental advocates call on Congress to build on Pallone offshore drilling ban by passing Biden infrastructure plan May 7, 2021, 12:30 pm | in
A group of New Jersey elected officials, green business groups and civil rights leaders applauded Rep. Frank Pallone (D-Monmouth) for introducing legislation that would ban offshore drilling off the state’s coastline and called on Congress to wean itself from Big Oil and instead make transformative investments to create clean energy jobs.
Rep. Pallone’s legislation comes as President Biden is pushing the American Jobs Plan, which would invest trillions of dollars in clean energy, creating millions of new jobs replacing 100 percent of the nation’s lead drinking water lines, weatherizing 2 million aging homes and offices, building new solar panels and wind turbines and other major national infrastructure needs.

The Grand Canyon Protection Act was recently introduced by U.S. Rep. Raύl Grijalva and passed in the House and has been introduced in the Senate by Sen. Kyrsten Sinema. The bills will permanently protect about 1 million acres of public lands surrounding Grand Canyon from the harmful and lasting damage of new uranium mining.

Leftist dark money groups such as the Sixteen Thirty Fund, New Venture Fund, the League of Conservation Voters (LCV), and others have remained silent on calls to disclose their donors even though they have publicly backed legislation that would provide for the disclosure of dark money groups’ donors and made public statements calling for donor transparency.
Breitbart News reported that Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) has served as one of the most vocal Democrat critics of “dark money’s” influence in politics, but the Rhode Island Democrat appears to be a significant beneficiary of dark money.

Seventy of the nation s mayors have endorsed a campaign dedicated to conserving 30% of America s lands, waters and oceans by 2030, an effort dubbed the 30x30 initiative.
The mayors represent 29 states, and Washington, D.C. Most serve in a nonpartisan or independent office, while 21 are Democrats and four are Republican. Cities represented include Chicago, Miami-Dade County and Phoenix.
The letter, organized by the League of Conservation Voters, pledges to emphasize the importance of locally-led conservation efforts meant to fight the climate crisis and reverse the decline of America s wildlife, waterways, and natural places.
