JEONJU ― The Jeonju International Film Festival (JIFF), an annual celebration of indie films, kicked off its 10-day run Thursday and will run through May 8, featuring nearly 200 films.
Under the slogan, Film Goes On, a total of 194 films from 48 countries will be screened during the festival at four local theaters. For those unable to attend, 142 films are also available on the local streaming platform Wavve.

Jeonju International Film Festival (Jeonju IFF) organizers announced on Tuesday the 10 feature films that will compete in the International Competition section this year.
Selected from 398 submissions, the line-up includes Jimmy Keyrouz s Lebanese drama Broken Keys, about a pianist trying to escape a Syrian town controlled by ISIS; Colombian director Mercedes Gaviria s documentary The Calm After the Storm, which deals with familial conflicts; Ukrainian director Kateryna Gornostai s Stop-Zemlia, which tells the story of a teenage girl navigating emotional turmoil.

Jeonju International Film Festival, scheduled from April 29 to May 8, will host physical screenings for its 22nd edition.
Under a new slogan Film Goes On, the film festival organizing committee announced Friday that it plans to resume normal operations despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Last year the organizing committee presented a hybrid festival, combining in-theater screenings and online events, and held it over 114 days, which was the longest schedule ever in history.
Based on its previous experience, the events and film screenings will be planned meticulously subject to COVID-19 social distancing levels and quarantine measures.
