Step-by-step instructions:
1. Stack four pieces of tissue paper. Secure together at two corners with small pieces of masking tape.
2. Trace a circle on the tissue paper, using a pencil and a round container or bowl that is approximately 18cm across.
3. In that circle, draw a flower shape with five petals. The petals may be rounded or pointed. Cut out the petal shapes.
4. Lay the four shapes on a piece of cardboard, such as an opened-up cereal box.
5. Use watercolour paints to paint the petals. Paint one of the petal shapes green. This will be your leaf shape. Paint the other three petal shapes with colours and patterns inspired by real flowers. You may want to incorporate things like a fade from one colour to another, stripes, and small spots. For example, for an iris, paint the inside of the petals yellow, and the outsides blue; add fine blue stripes. For a tiger lily, use gradations of orange; add small spots.
