McDONOUGH — When Lindsey Sanders asks people if they know where their water comes from, most don’t have any idea. She said that s why a visit from the Youth Leadership Henry s to the Henry County Water Authority s Cubihatcha Outdoor Education Center was so important on March 20. As the Environmental Compliance coordinator for the HCWA, Sanders is at the forefront of the utility’s public education and outreach efforts. She and members of the Cubihatcha staff provided students with an in-depth overview of how the authority provides the community with clean, safe drinking water and sewer collection and treatment services. The students also received insights on what career opportunities might be available to them in the water industry.

HOUSTON – Students enrolled in Lamar Consolidated ISD expressed disappointment Wednesday over plans to host senior prom at a well-known former plantation. “You’re asking us to dance on our ancestors’ graves and that could very well make people angry,” said Zenobia Wiley, a senior at George Ranch High School in Richmond.  The school is less than two miles from The George Ranch Historical Park, a 20,000-acre facility “divided into four time periods (the 1830s, 1860s, 1890s and 1930s) and features historic home tours, costumed interpreters, hands-on activities, cattle working and blacksmithing,” according to the facility’s website. The site, described as a living historical preservation of Texas heritage, is a partnership of the Fort Bend History Association and The George Foundation.

Hypodermic syringe lands CQ man in court

Premium Content Subscriber only Police found a hypodermic syringe without a secure cap after detaining a Bouldercombe man for a search. Tristian Lindsay Saunders, 30, pleaded guilty in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on January 14 to one count of failure to take reasonable care of a syringe. Police prosecutor Sergeant Darrell Dalton said police detained Saunders for a search at 9.30pm on December 15, 2020 on Campbell St, Rockhampton. Sgt Dalton said police found a hypodermic syringe without a secure cap in Saunders’ left shorts pocket. Defence lawyer Samantha Legrady said her client was with the wrong people at the time of the offence. Saunders was fined $250 with a criminal conviction recorded.
