Bay County Florida sets fewer voting sites for Tuesday elections

PANAMA CITY For the first time since Hurricane Michael, Bay County voters will be required to cast their ballots at assigned polling locations on Election Day, Tuesday. Supervisor of Elections Mark Andersen said for that reason, voters need to take advantage of early voting, or take the time now to find out at what sites they have been assigned. Early voting ends on Friday. Unlike traditional voting sites, any registered voter in Bay County was allowed to use any of the super voting sites set up after the hurricane. Andersen noted that voters on Tuesday will be funneled through just 18 polling locations 26 fewer than the 44 available before the hurricane, which damaged or destroyed many polling places across the county when it hit in October 2018.

Activities added at Panama City Beach Senior Center as winter visitors arrive

PANAMA CITY BEACH While the number of winter visitors is down this year amid COVID-19, new activities and classes have been added this week at the Panama City Beach Senior Center as more members have arrived. We ve had more coming from the state side, and a few Canadians have flown in, but members are still way, way, down, said Mugsy Parens, recreation assistant at the Lyndell Center and volunteer president of the Panama City Beach Senior Service Foundation.  We re trying everything we can to do events to attract people. We re always distancing, and anyone in the Oatfield building has to sign in and we take their temperatures. And they have to wear masks. It s so totally different; we re just trying to make it safe for everyone.
