Buckeyes Head to Orlando to Continue NCAA Play

Share COLUMBUS, Ohio – After winning two NCAA matches in Columbus, the Ohio State women’s tennis team (23-3) now heads to the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla., site of the NCAA Championships. The No. 15 seed Buckeyes will face No. 2 Texas at 1 p.m. Sunday. The winner of that match will take on the winner of a match between No. 7 Florida State and No. 10 Texas A&M in the quarterfinals Wednesday. The semifinals will be Friday May 21, with the championship Saturday May 22. Buckeyes Moving on to NCAA Round of 16

Share COLUMBUS, Ohio – With a 4-3 win over Vanderbilt, the No. 15 seed Ohio State women’s tennis team is moving on to the NCAA Championship Round of 16. The Buckeyes dropped the doubles point for the first time in 21 matches but rebounded with four singles wins to advance. After taking the doubles point and court one, Vanderbilt held a 2-0 lead. Buckeyes Lisa Hofbauer, Luna Dormet and Isabelle Boulais all won in straight sets to give the Buckeyes a 3-2 advantage. The Commodores tied the team score at three, leaving court five, which had just started a third set, to decide the match and Buckeye Lucia Marzal provided the clinching point. After dropping the second set she broke to open the third and jumped out to a 5-0 lead, closing out a 6-1 set win.

Buckeyes on to NCAA Second Round with Shutout of UIC

Share COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 15 seed Ohio State women’s tennis team advanced to the second round of the NCAA Championship, as it downed UIC, 4-0, Friday at the Auer Tennis Complex in Columbus. The Buckeyes, now 22-3 on the year, will face Vanderbilt, which defeated Ball State 4-0 in the first round Friday, at noon Saturday for a spot in the Round of 16. Tournament Central The Buckeyes won the doubles point and three straight-set singles matches vs. the Flames (19-6). Lucia Marzal and Irina Cantos Siemers won in both singles and doubles, with freshman Madeline Atway’s singles victory clinching the team win. Lisa Hofbauer and Luna Dormet also won in doubles.

Share COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team (18-3, 15-1 B1G) travels to Madison, Wis., this week for the 2021 Big Ten Tournament. Ohio State, the regular season co-champion and tournament’s No. 1 seed, earned a double bye and will open play in the quarterfinals at 4 p.m. ET Friday against the winner of a match between No. 8 Wisconsin and No. 9 Michigan State. The winner of that match will compete in the semifinals at 3 p.m. Saturday, with the championship match set for 3 p.m. Sunday. Live scoring will be available for all matches, with live video available for matches that are held indoors. BTN Plus will stream the championship match.
