Lisa Larson-Bunnell has filed for re-election to her seat on the Shawnee City Council. Her name will be on the ballot in the November 2021 general election.
The city council appointed Larson-Bunnell to the vacant Ward 3 seat in November 2018. She successfully ran for election in November 2019, taking home 51% of the votes.

Each year, the City Council is tasked with appointing a council president, who becomes acting mayor in case of the mayor s absence or removal from office. That task is especially important this time with Distler s future in question due to her recent arrest, although the mayor has not said that she plans to resign.

The Shawnee City Council on Monday tapped Ward 4 City Councilmember Lindsey Constance to be council president. The decision, though, wasn’t finalized until a coin toss determined Constance the winner over Ward 2 Councilmember Mike Kemmling, following a split 4-4 vote.
The result means Constance would take over for Mayor Michelle Distler if she were to leave her post or be unable to serve.
