Another major shift in traffic is starting for the thousands of motorists who travel though the Interstate 235 and Interstate 44 junction as the $105 million project nears completion this fall.
The first change will last about a week or two with the NW 63 exit from northbound I-235 moving from north of the junction to south of the junction. That will allow construction crews to finish paving the lanes connecting to a new northbound bridge over I-44.
Lisa Salim, spokeswoman with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, said the NW 63 exit shift could occur as early as Thursday afternoon and remain in place for up to two weeks before shifting back to north of the junction.

Interstate 44, the Turner Turnpike, was forced to shut down Sunday afternoon in both directions in east Oklahoma City because of a pileup involving multiple vehicles caused by the ice and snow unleashed by Winter Storm Uri.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that two semitrailer tractors, an SUV and another vehicle were involved and that two of the semis caught fire. Several people were taken to the hospital, a reporter for KOKH tweeted.
