BRANDON - A Brandon woman has launched a recall petition against two members of the Rosendale-Brandon School Board following a decision last year to close Brandon School.
The two board members involved, Jennifer Riedeman and Craig Mulder, are the most veteran members of the board, said Superintendent Wayne Weber.
Back in February the board voted to close the middle school portion of Brandon School, citing dwindling enrollment, to avoid staff reductions and to save money.
Next fall, Brandon Middle School students in sixth, seventh and eighth grade will instead attend Rosendale Middle School, about 10 miles away.
In a 6-3 vote, Board President Dean Mulder, and members Craig Mulder, Bethany Crook, Dave Grade, Jennifer Riedeman and Brenda Zickert voted in favor of the closure. Members Mark Kottke, Logan Kinyon and Beth Redeker opposed the move.
