Amtrak service is back on a full schedule in Illinois for the first time since the start of the pandemic.
The resumption of service means that there are once again five daily round trips between Chicago and St. Louis, including the Lincoln Service and Texas Eagle routes with stops in Springfield. There are also two daily roundtrips between Chicago and Quincy, and three per day between Chicago and Carbondale.
The schedule was scaled back more than a year ago as ridership plunged amid shutdowns and stay-at-home orders.
