The 15th Los Angeles Greek Film Festival is celebrating the breadth and depth of Greek Cinema today. The LAGFF virtual edition will offer New Greek Cinema with curated features, shorts, documentaries, animations on a secure platform accompanied by a host of webinars, live and pre-recorded Q&A sessions. Due to COVID-19, the festival will run on-demand only for this year from May 10 to May 30th. The virtual component allows this year’s Festival to reach a global audience.
With over 60 features, shorts, docs, and animated films, LAGFF 2021 is the largest online Greek Film Festival outside of Greece. LAGFF showcases new films from Greece and Cyprus and includes works by international filmmakers of Greek descent. The Festival promotes Greek cinema, cultural exchange and helps to bridge the gap between Greek filmmakers and Hollywood. Organised by the Mediterranean Film Institute (MFI), the MFI Script 2 Film Workshops advanced script and project development training programme has launched the call for its 2021 session. Placing its focus squarely on story design development and implementation across various narrative formats (feature films, documentaries and TV series), the programme consists of four intensive workshop sessions, both residential and online, based primarily on group work, master classes, lectures, plenary sessions, case studies and individual consultations throughout a six-month cycle.

LOS ANGELES – The Consulate General of Greece in Los Angeles, the UCLA Stavros Niarchos Foundation Center for the Study of Hellenic Culture, and Los Angeles Greek Film Festival announce a ten-day virtual event, Heritage and Memory: A Focus on Jewish Greece, to be held January 27-February 6 in honor of Greece’s upcoming Presidency of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA). On March 1, Greece will assume the Presidency of this intergovernmental organization, which unites governments and experts to promote, advance and shape Holocaust education, research and remembrance.
