Obituary: Ginny Bell March 12, 1926 – Dec. 26, 2020 GINNY BELL MARCH 12, 1926 – Dec. 26, 2020 Laura Virginia (Ginny) Lotz Bell, died of natural causes December 26, 2020 at the age of 94 at The Retreat Healthcare in Rio Rancho, NM. Ginny was born to Etha and Paul Lotz, on March 12, 1926 in Queens, New York. The second of three girls, Ginny grew up in Port Washington on Long Island, NY. Her brilliant, charismatic father, Paul Lotz, was a great influence in her life. A paint chemist in New York City, Paul was intrigued by the culture and geography of the southwestern United States and drove his family out west many summers in the early 1940’s to visit the Grand Canyon and Monument Valley. He befriended the Native American people, once suggesting and providing more durable paint for their Pueblo doors. ....
Mountaineers Gear Gratefully Accepted By Santa Fe Shelters By Bill Priedhorsky Los Alamos Mountaineers In their Dec. 12 drive, the Los Alamos Mountaineers collected about 800 cubic feet – a few tons – of clothing and gear for four Santa Fe homeless shelters. Some of the gear didn’t even make it in the shelter door. While a Mountaineer volunteer was at the front door intercom arranging the delivery with the staff inside, an older man waiting at the door overheard the conversation. ....
O’Donnell: County Council/Reel Deal Theater - 7:17 pm By JIM O’DONNELL Reel Deal Theater I’m thrilled to hear our County is seriously considering investing in the former Reel Deal Theater. They could bring back Summer at the Movies and Senior Appreciation Night, both wildly popular events over the last dozen years. One or both of the larger auditoriums could be retrofitted to accommodate live performances and concerts by removing the screen and two front rows of seating. This would result in quite a large area whereby a stage could be retrofitted with appropriate lighting and so forth. The stadium seating is perfect for any of these events. ....
