Struggling Inverclyde parents given food vouchers

NURSERIES in Inverclyde have hailed a local charity for stepping in to make happy memories for children and support families in need. Welfare organisation Children in Poverty Inverclyde recently teamed up with Kilmacolm businessman John Laird to give food vouchers to struggling parents following a £3,000 donation from the engineering boss and his family. CIPI raises money to send hundreds of local children on holiday with their families every year and also donates food vouchers to frontline services like nurseries, health visitors and Women s Aid. At a handover, nursery staff told the Tele about the strong impact the charity is having.

George s five favourite Larkfield Children s Centre pictures

KIDS, parents, and staff of Larkfield Children s Centre are preparing for a move into their stunning new, state-of-the-art building, nearing completion on Greenock s Stafford Road. However, this did not stop them from celebrating the important milestone of their 10th anniversary. All of us at the Tele sending our congratulations and we look forward to visiting them when they are comfortably set up in their new premises. Here we take a look back to some of the many highlights of Larkfield Children s Centre from the past 10 years. Inverclyde councillor Terry Loughran officiated at the opening of the new Larkfield Children s Centre back in 2011. Mr Loughran helped the kids as they quickly got to work with their toy building bricks in the bright sunshine.

New £3 million Greenock nursery is starting to take shape

A NEW £3 million nursery in Greenock is starting to take shape. Assembly of the superstructure of the Larkfield Early Learning Centre in Stafford Road is well under way, with the project said to be progressing well. The nursery is being built for Inverclyde Council by contractors CCG Scotland and development partner hub West Scotland at a cost of £2.9m. Work began late last year but assembly of the superstructure of the building, pictured, started last week. The nursery is due for completion in the summer and will boast state-of-the-art facilities with capacity for around 100 young people. It will become the new home for staff and children from Larkfield Children’s Centre.
