Post on 11 February 2021 by Anne Marie Steiger February 11, 2021 Kaitlin Emmons, Margarita Kalinina-Pohl, Nomsa Ndongwe In observance of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science globally celebrated on February 11, the UN Secretary-General António Guterres said that “advancing gender equality in science and technology is essential for building a better future.” The UN Secretary-General’s view is one shared by CNS, whose latest event, a course for nearly 80 female professionals from 23 countries across Africa, aimed to advance women in STEM through WMD nonproliferation training. The James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS) continued its fifth year of collaboration with the African Center for Science and International Security (AFRICSIS) on building capacity in WMD nonproliferation and security in the African continent targeting women in STEM.
