Subscriber only Mackay residents are spoiled for choice this May Day long weekend with a social calendar chock-full of events. When: 7.30pm, Sunday May 2 Where: Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre, Alfred Street, Mackay What s happening: Renowned Emmy-winning and Grammy-nominated artist Toni Childs will perform in Mackay to support the Daily Mercury s Hub for our Heroes campaign.  It just goes to show how much talent we hold, not just in Australia but in North Queensland, he said. We have extended the festival to be a three-day event as this allowed us to be able to have more performers for the duration of the weekend.  Country music artist Jayne Denham said with the festival on hold for more than 12 months, the band and herself were excited to bring not only new music but a killer new show. Anyone who buys a three-day event ticket before the end of March will go into the draw to win one of 50 Meet and Greet tickets, which include a meet and greet opportunity with each of the headliners over the three days.
The Whitsunday Sailing Club will host a family fun day in honour of Australia Day.
The event will include mini learn-to-sail courses for adults and children, a sailing expo, stalls, live music and activities for children such as backyard cricket.
Coastal Food Design will also take along a food truck and the club bar will be open.
