A Southwestern Ontario man was convicted Tuesday of careless driving after a pickup truck crashed into the front entrance of an auto parts retail store early last year in Sarnia.
Corbyn Critchfield was facing a Criminal Code charge of impaired by drug connected to the January 2020 incident, but that was withdrawn after he pleaded guilty in a virtual Sarnia courtroom to the single Highway Traffic Act charge. An agreement to go that route was reached between the Crown and defence lawyer Steve Menzies following a pre-trial in front of a different judge due in part to “inadvertent intoxication” by an unknown drug.
