(AP) In a typical year, Food Bank for the Heartland might spend an average of about $225,000 a month on food. That’s as a supplement to donations from the public and food received from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and other entities. But because of increased need in the community due to the coronavirus pandemic, the food bank is spending about $1.5 million a month on food. Thanks to community support and donations, the food bank’s finances have remained stable throughout the pandemic. “The community stepping up was phenomenal,” said Travis Carlson, a food bank spokesman. “We just consider ourselves tremendously fortunate in that regard.”

Broadcast Executive with Nearly 30 Years of Leadership Experience will Oversee Nexstar’s KVEO-TV, valleycentral.com, and Mission Broadcasting Inc.’s KGBT-TV IRVING, TX and BROWNSVILLE/HARLINGEN, TX – Nexstar Media Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Nexstar Media Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: NXST), today announced the appointment of Jeff Miller as Vice President and General Manager of its broadcast and digital operations in Brownsville/Harlingen, Texas (DMA #85). Mr. Miller will be responsible for overseeing Nexstar’s KVEO-TV (NBC/CBS), valleycentral.com , and the Company’s operational agreements with Mission Broadcasting, Inc., providing services to KGBT-TV (TBD). Mr. Miller will begin his new duties immediately and report to Julie Pruett, Senior Vice President and Regional Manager for Nexstar Media Inc.’s broadcasting division.
