East Alabama mayor indicted on ethics violation charges

An east Alabama mayor has been indicted on state ethics violations charges.
ll announced the arrest of Lanett Mayor Jonathon Kyle McCoy. The 56-year-old mayor surrendered to the Chambers County Jail on Tuesday morning on $30,000 bond. McCoy denies any wrongdoing.
The AG’s Special Prosecution Division presented evidence to a Chambers County grand jury on Feb. 11, Marshall said. The grand jury issued three indictments against McCoy on Feb. 12 – felony charges of using his official position or office for person gain.
