Memorial Day Services Will Be Held Monday

MEMORIAL DAY An American flag is placed at the graves of military personnel and a blue VFW Auxiliary flag is placed at the graves of members to the organization. VFW Auxiliary president Lou Ann Huberty is pictured placing a flag at a grave site Tuesday afternoon. Memorial Day services will be held Monday, May 31, along the shores of Five Island Lake and at the cemetery. In case of inclement weather, Memorial Day services will be held at the VFW Post Home. City of Waynesboro employees – EOC dispatchers, public works employees, police and fire – often have to take second jobs to be able to make ends meet.
It’s so bad that Waynesboro City Council member Terry Short Jr. recalls looking at an online job board recently and seeing that 70 percent of the city positions being advertised were at or below the poverty level for a family of four.
