The nationally recognized San Antonio Book Festival is hosting its ninth edition April 9 -11, with only the best bibliophile content brought to you online, after a COVID-19 cancellation last spring. The festivities feature around 200 authors, with a wide array of literary options and events for every palate. San Antonio treasure, House on Mango Street author and award-winning writer Sandra Cisneros, who has long had involvement with the festival, will debut a new event called Sandra Cisnero’s Presents, where she’ll introduce four of her favorite writers to festival audiences. On March 9, organizers revealed the full details behind this year s celebration, which includes more than 100 sessions and special lit-themed events. Helena record dub album
Unable to perform live due to the COVID-19 pandemic, members of Helena Latin band Los Marvelitos instead spent much of 2020 sequestered in their westside studio.

Their new project reimagined their 2019 album, âFrontera Norte,â in the style of dub, a genre of electronic music that originated in Jamaican reggae studios in the late 1960s and â70s and was further popularized by British bands like The Clash, The Police and UB40.
The resulting record, âFrontera de Dub,â will be released on iTunes, Spotify, Bandcamp and other online platforms on Jan. 29.
Lewis & Clark Library launched its newest Big Read event this past weekend.
The library received a $15,000 NEA Big Read grant to support a community reading program and chose the novel âInto the Beautiful Northâ by Luis Alberto Urrea as the featured book.
