RADNORÂ â A day after a student walkout in support of its former nickname and despite getting the most nominations from its rebranding committee, Radnor School District officials Tuesday said they would not reconsider bringing back the school s Raider nickname.
Last year, the school board voted to remove both the schoolâs Raider nickname and all Native-American imagery.
Over the last several months, supporters of the old nickname have continued to express support for it. Despite support for the Raider name, school officials say they wonât reconsider it.

âWe were unable to move forward with that name because it has been removed. It is not in the purview of this committee to discuss and look at that name,â district superintendent Ken Batchelor said at Tuesday nightâs school board meeting.

Ithan Creek openly flowed near where where Radnor Middle School sits today.

Nearby, the Wayne Natatorium was created by damming another creek. The lake created from the dam was a popular recreation spot and used for swimming in the summer and ice skating in the winter.
Over 100 years after these streams were covered for the growing Wayne community, many of those culverts, inlets and sewers are wearing out.
Now, due to a combination of all that impervious coverage and old infrastructure, flooding has become a major issue in the town.
