With a big smile on his face, a tiki hut fluttering over his head and Tampa Bay shining in the Monday-morning sun, Gov. Ron DeSantis ended the public-health state of emergency caused by the coronavirus. Just like that, every Florida town, city and county was back to business as usual. Have a great day, yâall!
Granted, there were other backdrops the governor could have chosen, such as the Intensive Care Unit at Fish Memorial Medical Center in Orange City. It would have been a lively sight, since every bed is full. Or a COVID-19 testing center, where one in every 16 or so tests is coming back positive.
