Tuolumne Fire District E-733 working Tamarack Fire
Sonora, CA – A local fire engine is assisting in battling the nearly 60,000-acre Tamarack Fire burning in the Markleeville area of Alpine County.
Tuolumne District Fire engine 733 has been assigned to the blaze for the past five days. They are part of a mixed strike team made up of Roseville Fire Department, Pioneer Fire, Fallen Leaf Fire, Rocklin Fire, and North Tahoe Fire. District officials detailed “The crew is doing great and happy to help.”

MONMOUTH The cause of a fire Thursday evening at Monmouth’s Smithfield Foods pork-processing plant remains under investigation.
Firefighters responded about 6:30 p.m. Thursday to reports of an exterior wall producing smoke at the North 6th Street plant, and were on scene until around 11 p.m.
Monmouth fire chief Casey Rexroat said the fire was on the production side of the plant and there was not a lot of damage to the building.
Rexroat said firefighters were able to knock down the fire outside the building fairly quickly, then discovered the flames had spread inside.
With machinery in the way, Rexroat said it was difficult to reach areas and completely extinguish the fire.

ROSEVILLE A suspect is in custody following an investigation by the Roseville Police Department and Roseville Fire Department into a body found after a fire destroyed a home in the Leslie’s Mobile Home Complex.
According to the Police Department, the fire occurred at approximately 10 a.m. April 19 at a home inside the complex, which is located in the 25000 block of Gratiot Avenue, near the intersection with 10 Mile Road.
Fire Department personnel responded, extinguished the blaze and found one deceased individual inside. According to the Police Department, the deceased was identified as a 39-year-old Roseville woman. Police said that an autopsy has been conducted and the case is being investigated as a homicide.

ROSEVILLE, Mich. – The Roseville Police Department said it is conducting a criminal investigation after a woman’s body was found inside a burning mobile home.
Police and fire departments responded to a report of a fire at about 10 a.m. Monday at the Leslie’s Mobile Home Community on Gratiot Avenue.
The woman’s identity has not been released. Police are searching for her boyfriend, who left the area before the fire.
A cause of death has not been determined and the origin of the fire is unknown.
