The East Carolina University Pirates baseball team finished the season on May 22 with a 38-14 record (20-8 American Athletic Conference, 27-4 home, 11-9 away) and a No.11 ranking in the nation.Â
The Pirates started the season with five straight wins. Those wins were against the University of Rhode Island Rams (27-24-1, 14-6 Atlantic 10) in a three game series, the Duke University Blue Devils (28-20, 16-17 Atlantic Coastal Conference) and the first game of the series against the Georgia Southern Eagles (31-22, 14-10 Sun Belt Conference).Â
ECU had five series sweeps in the 2021 season. Those sweeps were against Rhode Island from Feb. 19 through Feb. 21, the Appalachian State Mountaineers (20-30, 11-10 SBC) from March 5 through March 7, the University of North Carolina Charlotte 49ers (39-17, 24-8 Conference USA) from March 12 through March 14, the Illinois State University Redbirds (22-32, 12-15 Missouri Valley Conference) from March 19 through March 21, the University of Cinci
Atlanta Dream Add Frett, La-Force to Coaching Staff May 11, 2021
ATLANTA – The Atlanta Dream have hired La’Keshia Frett and Daynia La-Force as assistant coaches ahead of the 2021 season, the organization announced today.
The two coaches will join Interim Head Coach Mike Petersen and Assistant Coach Darius Taylor to lead the Dream this season.
“Being able to add La’Keshia Frett and Daynia La-Force to our coaching staff is so exciting,” Petersen said. “La’Keshia is one of the all-time great players in our sport, and Daynia has had an excellent career both as a player and a coach. They bring a depth of knowledge that will help both our players and our staff immensely.” `

Playing four games in Harrisonburg, Virginia, the Stony Brook softball team was swept in a doubleheader by the James Madison Dukes on Friday, March 12 before sweeping the Rhode Island Rams on Saturday, March 13. By going .500 on the weekend, the Seawolves’ record moved to 7-3.
Despite solid pitching performances in all four games, including a 16-strikeout outing by senior Dawn Bodrug, the Seawolves lived and died with their bats. They scored two runs total against James Madison compared to 18 against Rhode Island.
