GoLocalProv | Former Chief Justice Williams Questions Neronha's Motivation to Intervene in Block Island Case

Former Supreme Court Frank Williams and AG Peter Neronha Former Rhode Island Supreme Court Justice Frank Williams is questioning Attorney General Peter Neronha s jurisdiction and motivation to petition the Rhode Island Supreme Court to intervene in a mediated case involving a controversial Block Island marina s proposed expansion.  Williams served as the mediator in the case between the marina Champlin’s Realty Associates and the Coastal Resources Management Council (CRMC).  In the motion filed with the Rhode Island Supreme Court on Monday, Neronha asked to intervene in the proceedings to address concerns about a recent closed-door mediation between the CRMC and Champlin’s that would allow for a marina expansion. Nursing home vaccinations begin in Rhode Island

PROVIDENCE — An effort to administer the coronavirus vaccine to about 7,500 residents and 10,000 workers at nursing homes across Rhode Island started Monday. It may take several weeks before everyone eligible receives their first dose of the vaccine, being administered by CVS and Walgreens pharmacies in conjunction with state health officials, authorities said. The effort will start in long-term care facilities in some of the state’s hardest-hit communities. More than half the facilities in Providence, Pawtucket and Central Falls will get the vaccine in the first week, state Health Department spokesman Joseph Wendelken said Sunday. About 1,500 first doses will be administered Monday, he said. The Pfizer vaccine requires two doses.
