( Mike Platania photo) Scott’s Addition is constantly flush with new apartments, but a local developer is trying out a residential product of a different sort: condos. Spy Rock Real Estate Group is planning a 134-unit condo project at 3406 Carlton St. at the intersection of Roseneath Road and Carlton Street. The roughly 3.7-acre site is owned by Riverside Brick & Supply Co., a 150-year-old masonry company. Riverside President Mike Wray and Spy Rock Principal Andrew Basham both confirmed that Spy Rock has the land under contract for purchase.

The brewery is planning to open a tasting room at 1509 Belleville St., where it was once planned to be an anchor tenant of a food hall that never materialized. Charles Bice, who owns the Belleville property with development partner Birck Turnbull, said despite the food hall falling through last summer, The Veil remained interested in expanding its presence in Scott’s Addition. He said The Veil is set to occupy about 8,200 square feet in the building, which is about two blocks from its current home at 1301 Roseneath Road, where it has its brewing operations and taproom.

( Courtesy of Divaris Real Estate) Scott’s Addition is set to get another major mixed-use project after an entire city block in the neighborhood changed hands last week. Greystar, a South Carolina-based developer, paid $8.6 million for the 2.4-acre parcel at 1601 Roseneath Road, where it is planning a five-story, mixed-use building featuring 350 apartments and 10,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. Local real estate firm Capital Square 1031 is the co-developer on the project.
