Torn Again was released on Thursday and could offer a taste of what s to come with those other tracks, which aren t officially set for release.
The song is an alternate take on Cohen s reading of It’s Torn, a poem he wrote that originally appeared on his 2019 album Thanks for the Dance. Lanois was introduced to the original recording while working with Adam on the project. I fell in love with the power of the lyrics and Leonard’s stark recitation, he said.

Daniel Lanois has released âTorn Again,â a new song that features a recording of Leonard Cohen reciting a poem. The musical arrangement in the new release began with a slide guitar performance with Rocco Deluca, according to Lanois. âThe spine of our steel guitars became the rock for the poem to stand on,â he said in a press release. âWayne Lorenz and I spent many hours in the studio rearranging and dubbing out the steel to enhance the lyrical journey with orchestral compliment. Iâm very proud of this work, may it keep on reaching and speaking.â Hear âTorn Againâ below.
