Stuckeman School welcomes French architect to Lecture and Exhibit Series

Reza Azard, an award-winning French architect and co-founder of the architectural firm Projectiles, will lead off the Stuckeman School’s 2021-22 Lecture and Exhibit Series by reflecting on his practice’s work and its multidisciplinary approach to cultural projects at all scales, from the land to the design of furniture, in “Museum Works” at 6 p.m. on Aug. 25.

Image Courtesy of Christophe Hutin Christophe Hutin set up his architecture studio in 2003 in Bordeaux. He is an architect, a researcher at the École architecture in Toulouse, and a senior lecturer at the École architecture in Bordeaux. He studied and documented the townships of Soweto near Johannesburg and developed renowned expertise in housing and habitats. As the founder and coordinator of the Eunic Studio in Johannesburg (2008-2010), he co-founded the “Learning From” workshop, editions of which have taken place in Detroit, Soweto, and Uzeste. He is the author of “L’enseignement de Soweto”, published by Actes Sud in 2009.

6 Mies van der Rohe Award nominations feature Petersen bricks

Petersen bricks feature in six nominations for the 2022 edition of the prestigious Mies van der Rohe Award. Coveted by the global architectural community, the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – the Mies van der Rohe Award – is organised by the Fundació Mies van der Rohe and the European Commission with the biennial award recognising and commending quality architectural production in Europe. For the 2022 prize, 449 works – completed between October 2018 and October 2020 – were nominated across 279 cities in 41 countries. In September, a new group of nominated projects will be added, finished between November 2020 and April 2021. The shortlist for these will be announced in January 2022, with 5 finalists announced in February and the ultimate winner in April 2022.
