Peshawar February 24, 2021 SWABI: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders said on Tuesday said the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government was plotting to create rift in the party. Former MPAs Babar Saleem and Shiraz Khan, Sajjad Khan, PML-N provincial vice-president Dildar Khan, district general secretary Rehan Alam Khan who were awarded the party tickets for contesting the Senate election, but disqualified by Election Commission of Pakistan. Speaking at a press conference, they lauded provincial president Amir Muqam for his role in the award of tickets to them. They said that Rehan Alam was disqualified by ECP and his appeal was dismissed by the Election Tribunal, the provincial leadership deserved appreciation for its constructive role.

AFP/File ISLAMABAD: Two technocrats each from Punjab and Balochistan are set to be elected unopposed as the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday completed the process of scrutiny of nomination papers filed by candidates from all over the country to contest for 48 seats of the Senate, for which polling would be held on March 3. The statistical data shows that the ECP had received a total of 170 nomination papers. It rejected 25 of them on different grounds whereas three candidates have withdrawn from the race. Since the candidature of Mushahidullah Khan of the PML-N has become “infructuous” after his death, the total number of valid nomination papers with the ECP is now 141.

ECP starts scrutiny of papers for Senate polls National February 18, 2021 PESHAWAR: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday started the scrutiny of nomination papers of the candidates for the Senate elections from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A total of 51 candidates have submitted nomination papers for the 12 seats of the Senate from the province. They include 22 for general seats, 13 for women, 11 for technocrats and five for minorities seats. An ECP official on Wednesday said nomination papers of a number of candidates were cleared on the first day of scrutiny. The nomination papers of an independent candidate for the general seat, Malik Najab Gul, were rejected.
