AN ARTS festival for children and young people is continuing into April. take pART 2021 has returned for the 12th time, but in a slightly different way with virtual arts and theatre events. The series, staged by Venue Cymru, began on March 20 and is taking place over four weeks. So far the festival has included a drawing lesson with takepART patron Jonny Duddle, who illustrated the Harry Potter books, a dance class based on award-winning show ‘Six’ with West End musical performer and teacher Rachel Sargent, and a series of Welsh language drama games. PRIMARY school pupils have joined forces with a popular theatre’s classical musicians to launch an online radio station. Ysgol Tudno in Llandudno is working with Venue Cymru’s resident Ensemble Cymru in the weekly project which aims to promote well-being through music. It has seen them work with artistic director and clarinetist Peryn Clement-Evans, harpist Mared Emlyn and cellist Nicki Pearce. The project forms part of the popular venue’s TakepArt Festival, a creative arts and dance workshops for people aged under 18. The festival, now in its 12th year, is taking place online and has included a drawing session by TakepART patron Jonny Duddle, who illustrated the Harry Potter books, and a dance class with West End musical performer and teacher Rachel Sargent based on award-winning show ‘Six’.
In Pieces, will be released as a film in support of LGBT Foundation in April.
Penned by Joey Contreras, the piece explores how clarity and empowerment manifest themselves in different relationships.
The show was originally presented at the Lincoln Center, and mixes typical musical styles with more pop-esque tunes. It will premiere on 23 April, with ticket information and casting to be revealed.
